2023 Updates and Annoucements
Time to come out of hibernation. First, I hope everyone had a relaxing winter, but time to start planing for the racing season/events this year– the days are getting longer and the first race may be just 3 weeks away. Just update me if you are in/out for this year and update you profile, …

Still obstacles to getting the season started. It was a good idea to cancel Blakely Rock yesterday. CSR did delay having the boat ready. We weren’t able to move her until Saturday AM but now back at Shilshole. The minor issue is getting the rigged tuned. It isn’t as close to where we want it so will take a little more work which may impact PSSR race this coming weekend. …

The schedule and start of the season are evolving so here’s an update:
Shada was delayed out of CSR which eliminated all the pre-season rig tunning and practices. The new rod standing rigging wasn’t just right so it had to go back and get fixed. Got completed end of last week, just waiting to leave the yard. …

Shada at CSR February 2022
Shada should be out of the yard next late week. New racing bottom, new standing rod rigging, new furler, new halyard sheaves, new turnbuckles so we can tune the rig, rudder inspected, we now have our steaming light back and the rotten anchor locker bulkhead was repaired.
Anticipating the first race to be Sloop Tavern’s Blakely Rock race on Saturday, …

Wednesday Spring Series #1 update
When you get a chance, update your availability for Wednesday. Would be nice to know the final tally by Tuesday night. It will dictate if we are racing on Wednesday. Right now only 4 confirmed. (Alex I added you in case of a last-minute change, but based on what you said on Sunday planning that you are out).
As before dock time is 17:30 and leave at 18:00. Right now just the new sails on the boat. By default will use them, but I may be able to get the old ones to the boat on Wednesday. Will need extra time to put the main on.
Weather: Current forecast shows rain and winds around 10-12 kts. A few models push it into the mid-teens. There is a moderately intense low pressure moving through Wednesday. Depending on if it arrives on time and/or if it enters Puget Sound more to the north or south those factors can cause a big shift in the wind forecast.
Watch for late-minute notices and announcements (Tuesday night or even Wednesday AM). Depending on # of crew confirmed and if forecasts changes we may not get race #1 in. If the forecast gets into the upper teens with rain and short # of crew then may not go out. I'll keep you posted.

WEDNESDAY RACE#2 DEBRIEF:
It was great being on the boat Wednesday Greetings! Here is my first draft, please correct as add any details you remember. Thanks. -Rich
Summary
SI's were just released. If you want to review all race documents, they are linked on the event page (below CYC insignia). Scroll over and click. I will bring printed copies.
Finally Drew Zangle will be joining us for one or both days. He has raced with us before , is a very good sailor. He now crews with Lodos, another J/109 but she was sold and the skipper just bought a J/111 so they are without a boat for a bit. On the day(s) he crews my plan will be for him to trim headsail and coach the other trimmer. Then trimmer#2 will rotate out and learn pit. After first race then flip-flop for the next race. This should minimize the time the back of the boat has to instruct and will help bring the new trimmers up to speed faster.
Let me know if any other issues, see you at 0930. J
