  1. WEDNESDAY RACE#2 DEBRIEF:

It was great being on the boat Wednesday
Greetings! Here is my first draft, please correct as add any details you remember. Thanks.
    -Rich

    • We were racing against Tantivy and (unofficially) Time Warp.
    • We started in 12-14 knots from the North – @ approximately 20 degrees). Over the course of the race, it moderated and shifted right.
    • The current was predicted to be in the last 90 minutes of a flood, but Steve reported an ebb flow inshore of the RC.
    • We won the start and Tantivy sailed in our gas for several minutes.
    • We were also doing well vs. Time Warp off the start, who were sailing lower but no faster.
    • After Tantivy tacked away, we sailed on for a bit, then tacked into a loose cover.
    • We sailed to layline(?) and tacked, Tantivy appeared to have lost a little ground by going in. Time warp, on the other hand had made up some ground staying out a bit longer as they came into the layline and tacked on our breeze.
    • On the run, the long jibe was on starboard.
    • Our boat speed seemed even with Tantivy.
    • On the second beat, Tantivy made a gain by going into the beach near the bath house.
    • The breeze had gone right 20-30 degrees After the rounding we jibed on to port pretty quickly to get on the long jibe.
    • Tantivy was close enough to get on our breeze, roll us and setup inshore of us.  They then appeared be a little faster. I think they were sailing in a little more breeze.
    • We buggered the rounding at the leeward mark which put us out of the race aspirations

    Summary

    • The 12-knot  northerly shifted right 20-30 degrees over the course of the race.
    • As the breeze moderated their appeared to be more breeze nearer the breakwater but less breeze inshore near Magnolia.
    • Observed In the last part of a flood:
      • counter currents inshore  – roughly inline with a line between West Point and Meadow Point.
      • current near the Golden Gardens beach.
