Long Distance Race (> 1 day)

Long distance race in early November.  Popular 76-mile race, split into 2 legs with large classes of 10-15 boats. Odd years course is counter-clockwise, even years are clockwise.  Long delivery to the San Juan Islands the day/week before. Very early start ≈ 6 AM Saturday with an hour out to start. Start/Finish is at Lydia Shoal then halfway around San Juan Island to Roche Harbor. Second leg off Roche Harbor and back to Lydia Shoal. Typically finish late afternoon on Sunday then back to moorage. Delivery back to Shilshole Bay Marina on Monday. Challenging race. Tides can be strong and the weather is unpredictable from no wind to SCA with the wind at 25-30 kts. Can usually count on some rain.
