Season Start Update #2

The schedule and start of the season are evolving so here’s an update:

Shada was delayed out of CSR which eliminated all the pre-season rig tunning and practices. The new rod standing rigging wasn’t just right so it had to go back and get fixed. Got completed end of last week, just waiting to leave the yard.

Scheduled to leave CSR Wednesday morning and should be back to Shilshole by late AM. I’ll then do some fine-tuning of the rig and cleaning. If anyone wants to help clean let me know so we can coordinate time.

The initial plan was to also do test runs with the new rig to adjust setting, but that won’t happen before Saturday, but may set a trial date before PSSR.

What about Sloop’s Blakely Rock Race this coming Saturday? Only three confirmed so far, but the weather window looking decent, and would be a good race to shake out the cobwebs and see how the boat handles with the new rig. We’d then take notes so we can adjust before PSSR. Ideally would like to have 7-8 total crew. I’d only cancel if 1) not enough crew or 2) the forecast changes and calls for heavy air- I don’t want the rig in heavy air before we have a chance to test it and adjust settings. When you get a chance mark your availability at the Shada website (or email me). I will need to register by Wednesday afternoon if we are going to do this race.

Finally when you get a chance update your availability for the upcoming races, particularly for PSSR and other races in April and May. The Shada website is supposed to make it easy for you and helps me, so I don’t have to send a bunch of reminder emails or lose track of who has or has not signed up. If you are having trouble with the site let me know.

That’s it for now, hopefully, we can get crew for racing on Saturday.
